Way less waspy than the name implies.

Hi!
I’m a Contributing Editor at Esquire magazine, where I was previously the weekend editor for three years.
As a reporter and writer, I cover politics, pop culture, lifestyle, and the intersection of all three areas. My journalism, essays, and criticism have appeared in Rolling Stone, The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, The Daily Beast, The Washington Post, Slate, The Nation, Them, Oxford American, and Pitchfork.
I’m also a creative director with more than a decade of experience writing and producing everything from five-word headlines to 5,000-word white papers. I’ve worked both in-house and agency-side, building brand identities from scratch and leading content and creative teams for global B2B and B2C companies.
I’m originally from North Carolina and now live in Brooklyn with my partner and our grumpy old hound dog. I have a staunch dislike of bread-and-butter pickles, a deep and abiding love for Claussen dill pickles, and generally strong opinions about most things—humidity, your pet’s name, Ken Burns documentaries, and the ‘80s pop star Laura Branigan, to name a few.
